Beach Wrestling in Saudi Arabia: A Step Toward Growth
In April, the Saudi Arabian Wrestling Federation hosted the Saudi Arabian Beach Wrestling National Championships from April 17–20. The event featured over 400 athletes across three age groups, marking a significant milestone for the development of beach wrestling in the country.
As part of the championship program, a beach wrestling seminar for local coaches was held on April 17, led by UWW Coaches Educator and Beach Wrestling Committee Member Oyan Nazariani. The seminar focused on key aspects of training methods, competition preparation, and international best practices. The strong interest and active engagement from Saudi coaches reflected the growing enthusiasm for beach wrestling in the region.
During the visit, Nazariani also met with Mr.Fahad Alfarraj, President of the Saudi Arabian Wrestling Federation, to discuss the future prospects and strategic plans for the sport. Their conversations explored how beach wrestling can continue to grow in Saudi Arabia, with Mr. Alfarraj sharing his vision for its long-term development.
In addition, he exchanged ideas with Mr.Sharif Halawa, Head of the Sports Department, discussing potential areas of collaboration and future initiatives.
The Saudi Arabian Wrestling Federation’s efforts to expand beach wrestling across the country demonstrate a strong commitment to developing the sport. The championship and accompanying activities serve as a promising foundation for Saudi Arabia’s growing presence in the global beach wrestling community.
